Birthday
A couple weekends ago, I went down to Shippensburg University to celebrate my friend's birthday. Below, the pictures from this expedition, at the insistence of Ashley. Postin'em on me blog is, for some reason, much more gratifying than if I had put them on Facebook.

Hmm
Cool: Jason Schwartzman. Amazing acting in Rushmore, I Heart Huckabees, The Darjeeling Limited. Also, in cool band Tazewell turned me on to, Coconut Records.
Uncool: Was also in Phantom Planet

baROCK THE BELLS 2008
It was indeed a quasi-Obama celebration, but if one subtracted the tee-shirts, shout-outs, and NaS' "Black President," it was an amazing congregation of some of the finest hip-hop artists of today. Below, pictures from the cheap seats of the Rock the Bells Festival in Columbia, MD and the DC afterparty as I celebrate my blog's 75th post.

E'ryday Heroes
Yesterday, a lifesaving incident requiring CPR on the pool deck. Luckily my manager Steph was on the scene immediately, while 13 other lifeguards began to all ask "What do we do now?" I ended up clearing the pool on the megaspeaker. The kid had no pulse (nor any nearby family members), but was quickly revived. A miracle, considering that (if my memory serves me correctly), most victims who require CPR don't make it (99%).
My personally save tally for the year, none of the incidents being that serious: 5.5*
*I included a half because one time I had to dive in after this ole' boy who was drowning right next to his parents, and my whistle made them realize that I was about to have to save their kid.
Today, Rock the Bells.

The Gift
Alas, my dear readers, I have succumbed to the apathy of a nonblogger. Because I haven't updated recently, I felt you were in store for a grand gift. I proudly present pictures from my trip to Ecuador, which spanned the New Year's last December/January. Enjoy!
Places:
The Otovalo Market

Vibracion Club (did not visit, due to time constraints, haha)

Stairs

What I love most: public art (tags) layered on top of public art

The Horror

The church in the plaza of Cotacachi

"G Spot Hamburgers"

El Panecillo

Quito

The countryside

This is how people watched the New Year's Eve Parade. In large, dense flocks.

Purportedly, one will have good luck for a year if they wear yellow panties on NYE. For this reason, street vendors selling them(?).
A pier overlooking a lake lost to oil contamination.

Nina.

Masks for sale, to be paired with an ano viejo and burned at midnight.

My Global Exchange tour group.

If we were at a Chinese restaurant, we would have ordered the "Happy Family." Yury, Tricia, and meself in traditional indigenous gear.

Tricia insists that one must take a "falling-down-the-stairs" picture in every famous city they visit. Hence, Charlotte.

A delivery truck. Fresh. Yum.

Sam, who kept pace with me on NYE and ended up with that mask on. Holding one of the 80 cent forties that could be bought nearly anywhere.

Cute kid with a llama in the foreground.
