Hank Thomas Political Art

Among the first streetwear brands I got into as a senior in high school was Kiser of New York. I recommend that you hit up that link--the video that introduces the site is pretty tight, and the dancers actually spell out 'Kiser.' Anyway, they have a project on their site called "A Graphic Life" featuring the art of Hank Thomas. Check out some of his work below

While I'm sure most of us have seen pretty much all of these 're-branding' ideas in other design campaigns, their message brings to attention some important issues - how long til Obama puts an end to black prisons, a senseless drug war, and easy access to weapons on our streets?

is the nike brand on the guy's head a statement about the stereotype that african americans are naturally gifted athletes?

fine question, i hadn't thought about it like that...i just assumed it was an indictment of the company, but you make a very valid point. thanks for currently being the strongest supporter of this blog
