FACT: Today is my birthday. Received a thoughtful series of packages from my family last night, which included: stationary, cupcakes, a whoopie cushion written on as a birthday card from my little brother, two new shirts, the "Populations," record by The Most Serene Republic, toothpaste, and red beans and rice. Nothing too spectacular planned for this evening, but Rafik and John are making dinner.
This weekend we will undoubtedly make memories when Drew, Rafik, and I hop the Chinatown bus to NYC for a Joanna Newsom show and weekend in the city. Friday night she goes on at the Brooklyn Academy of Music. We were very fortunate that Rafik procured tickets as soon as they went on sale, seeing that they were all gone after 90 minutes. Spending Friday night at NYU with Chung-san, but Saturday night's reservations have not yet been made. Should make for a great adventure.
Yesterday Barack Obama spoke at American University, where he received an endorsement from Ted Kennedy. Although the event was held at MY university, students were given no preferential treatment and the event, open to the public, was swamped with people. My sleeping pattern did not allow me to awake early enough to wait in line to get in. The good news, however, is that Jerry Springer is also coming to campus, tomorrow.
