Broken Tech

This post comes to you, my beloved and formerly uninformed readers, with the renewed energy of a man who was, this past week, without the Internet. I seemingly disabled my crappy Dell from being able to connect to la Red by having flipped a little switch on it. Consequently I was unable to bring to you the word, which has, of late, been great. Additionally, it should be noted that this post was particularly inspired by a character named Sheriff Tim, whose recent comments on former blog posts were inspiring to yours truly.

On Saturday, I had the opportunity to see Valentino Achak Deng, acclaimed protaganist of Dave Egger's What is the What, speak at the Sixth and I Historic Synagogue. It was pretty powerful; after all, he's not a trained motivational speaker, he's a Sudanese Civil War survivor who happens to be incredibly motivational. This experience was really cool, seeing that I met Eggers last semester.

After the synagogue I bounced over a couple blocks to watch the Caps take on the Florida Panthers. They won, and accordingly made the playoffs. The Verizon Center gave all the fans an Alex Ovechkin bobble-head doll. I'm in Math class right now, but I bet he's chillin on my desk, noddin' that porcelain head of his.

Finally, the last great article of news I have is that THE STARS HAVE ALIGNED! (This is a phrase I borrowed from Brian, because no one else has put it more correctly, nor do I think someone could.) I am referring to the free show on the National Mall on 4/20 featuring The Roots! Thievery Corporation! Jesse Jackson (will be there)! Should be a great time.
