Venting

I haven't maintained the blog as well as I should/intend, but in light of my recent discontinuation of my Facebook and Twitter accounts, I needed an outlet to vent late-night before settling down with some Joyce. I was finally going to register for my Spanish translation class tonight, but then I decided I have not the patience to talk about the art of translation for three hours at a time and I really just need to get into the class I'm waitlisted on (which only meets once a week and is also conducted through the Internet). So I didn't register for the class.

Then I get an email telling me that, of the four classes I am registered/waitlisted for, I've been booted from Contemporary Latin America because the university fucked up. I'm being straight up disenfranchised. And then they suggest a "similar" class that also happens to include the U.S. relations with Latin America; this alternative is completely unacceptable, as these relations will undoubtedly piss me off and further my disgust with the way the U.S. conducts itself in the world. I've been depressed too much by this in my other classes.

The overarching complaint of this post is that I don't know which classes I don't want to register for in the fall. Inevitably I'm going to get stuck accruing monumental loans for coursework I really don't feel inclined to learn about. The classroom has seemingly become more of a confined prison cell than an environment designed for growth and stimulation, except you can read the books you want in prison (for the most part) and not the ones you're assigned to be tested on.

Regardless, I'm going to DC for a couple days next week before I start working full-time, so it will be exceptional to be with my friends in the city without the worry of school. Also, hopefully a post to come soon explaining my recent disillusionment with technology.

Old Head,

How's Mandela doing? Also, do you have my shot glasses or did I misplace them in packing?
