H, can't hear you...

As previously mentioned, I spent Wednesday afternoon to Sunday afternoon at my fourth Central PA Hugh O'Brian Youth (HOBY) leadership seminar. With fingers crossed, I hope this blog will be an Internet destination for many HOBY alum, seeing that Sunday was filled with tons of promotion. This translated into me handing out slips with witty tags lines ("Ignorance? NEVER AGAIN. Read up!", "Knowledge is king, so read up!" and "Don't consider yourself enlightened until you've read...", among others). All in all, I wouldn't be offended if everyone elected not to read, because this project is ultimately for me to help document that which I don't feel has a place in my journal. It's also cool to save pictures somewhere with a little description. Regardless, I have an uncanny feeling many will be unable to resist reading about my wild adventures, and this is also for you! Don't forget to comment.

Seeing that my HOBY kids will be reading this, and particularly kids I might have been in charge of, I'll certainly have to curb some of the content and language. This should come as no big deal...after all, Vladimir Nabokov wrote a whole book about statutory rape and whatnot and didn't use a single expletive. Henry Miller, on the other hand...that's a shout-out to you, Mr. DeVitis.

The experience of being a facilitator at HOBY was amazing; being chiefly in charge of the growth of young leaders was awesome, and watching them leave on Sunday with an experience like HOBY in their back pocket was incredibly motivating. However, in hindsight, I don't know how competent I was. It wasn't until just now that I realized, compliments of Blogspot's spellcheck, that I had all my ambassadors misspell 'facilitator' on their thank-you cards to corporate sponsors. To those of you whom I directed to do this, I wholeheartedly apologize :)

Anyway, not much else to comment on about HOBY. I didn't have a camera because I left it in Jersey and Stanley's too lazy to mail it to me. I did meet some amazing new people myself and the experience was worth more than any monetary amount. Can't wait until next year!

(O, a little louder...)
In my case, though, you slapped into my hand a crumpled paper with "Shameless self-promotion? NEVER." Shameless or not, I like your blog, and you've got a regular reader. And I'm sure your ambassadors will forgive you for your bad spelling. HOBY next year, I assume?

Yes, sir. I compromised all of my morals, caved in and joined the masses of internet-addicted teens... all because of HOBY.
